Effective date: October 15, 2026
MoonSec (moonsec.ai) is an independent publication based in Missouri, USA ("we"). Contact: contact@moonsec.ai.
Short version: no cookies, no ads tracking, and we don't sell your data.
What we collect
- Site visits: privacy-friendly analytics (Plausible-style). No cookies, no cross-site tracking, aggregate stats only (pages viewed, referrer, country, device type). The provider may briefly process your IP address to count unique visits without storing it.
- Newsletter: your email address, plus the signup time, confirmation time, and IP address recorded for proof of consent. Delivered through Resend. Resend may record opens and clicks.
- Issue reports and email: whatever you choose to send us.
- Sponsors: business contact and billing details. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see full card numbers.
Why we use it: to run and improve the site, send the newsletter you asked for (double opt-in), reply to you, and invoice sponsors. For EU/UK visitors, our legal bases are consent (newsletter), legitimate interests (analytics, security, replies), and contract (sponsors).
Sharing: only with service providers that run things for us (hosting, analytics, Resend, Stripe), or when the law requires it. We don't sell or "share" personal data for targeted advertising.
Retention: newsletter data until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record so we don't email you again. Sponsor billing records as long as tax law requires. Messages as long as they're needed.
Your choices and rights: unsubscribe through the link in any email. To access, correct, or delete your data, email contact@moonsec.ai. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK or certain US states), you may have additional rights, including the right to complain to your data-protection authority. We'll respond within the time the applicable law requires.
International transfers: our providers may process data in the US.
Children: this site isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Security: we use reputable providers and keep data to a minimum, but no system is perfectly secure.
Changes: we'll update the effective date above and tell newsletter subscribers about material changes.
